REPRESENTASI ATAS PENGAKUAN KULTURAL MASYARAKAT PERANAKAN TIONGHOA INDONESIA DALAM NOVEL MISS LU KARYA NANING PRANOTO (Representation of the Cultural Recognition of Indonesian Chinese in Miss Lu by Naning Pranoto)

Abstract


Miss Lu karya Naning Pranoto merupakan refleksi dan respons terhadap situasi sosial masyarakat Indonesia pasca-1998 atas pengakuan kultural etnik peranakan Tionghoa. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menginterpretasikan tanggapan sosial teks Miss Lu atas situasi kultural-sosial di era pasca-Mei 1998 atau reformasi dengan prespektif sosiologi sastra. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah isi atau isu dari novel Miss Lu, latar sosial, dan biografi sosiologis Naning Pranoto. Teknik pengumpulan dilakukan dengan cara membaca dan mencatat informasi dari sumber data. Metode analisis data dilakukan dengan menghubungkan latar sosial, biografi pengarang, dan isi teks untuk melihat representasi dunia sosial yang dihadirkan novel. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah teks ini mewakili kelompok sosial moderat dan mencerminkan situasi sosial 2000-an. Teks ini juga menyuarakan dan mendukung hak dan pengakuan kultural kelompok yang termarginalkan, terutama peranakan Tionghoa-Indonesia. Jadi, teks ini merupakan interpretasi dari semangat reformasi atau Mei 1998.

Miss Lu by Naning Pranoto represents the social situation of Indonesian society after the 1998s and provides an answer to the Chinese Indonesians' cultural recognition. This study aimed  to interpret the social responses of Miss Lu text on the socio-cultural situation in the post-May 1998 era or reformation through sociology literature perspective. The data in this study were the content or issues of the Miss Lu novel, social background, sociological biography of Naning Pranoto. The data were technically collected through reading and recording information from data sources. The data analysis method was carried out by linking the social background, author's biography, and text content to see the social mirror presented by the novel.  The result showed that this text portrays moderate social groups and reflects the social situation of the 2000s. This text also voices and supports the rights and recognition of the cultural of marginalized groups, especially the Chinese-Indonesian. Thus, this text is an interpretation of the heart of reform or May 1998.
