Eksplorasi pengalaman pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia bagi penutur asing melalui konteks sosial makanan: studi deskriptif kualitatif

Abstract

This research aims to explore the experience of learning Indonesian as a Foreign Language (BIPA) through the use of food in a social context. This approach emphasizes the use of food as a tool for learning the Indonesian language, allowing learners to engage in authentic social interactions, develop language skills, and understand cultural aspects related to Indonesian cuisine. The application of a qualitative descriptive method with a literature review approach allows for an in-depth understanding of how food can be used as a contextual language learning tool that motivates learners. Data was collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis related to BIPA learning experiences involving food. The findings of the research reveal that the utilization of the social context of food in learning the Indonesian language provides enriching and meaningful experiences for the learners. Through activities involving food, such as cooking together or tasting traditional Indonesian dishes like "tumpeng" and "kerupuk," BIPA learners engage in authentic communication situations that enhance their speaking skills. Food becomes a cultural symbol reflecting social values, togetherness, and Indonesian traditions. Participation in these activities creates an emotional connection with Indonesian culture, aiding a deeper understanding of cultural values and providing communication contexts relevant to everyday life. Active engagement in communicating about food also creates meaningful learning experiences, motivates learners, and enhances their language skills in practical contexts.
